The The Luther Trail in Saxony is over 550 kilometres long and leads through charming landscapes and historic sites between Leipzig, Chemnitz and Zwickau. Over 29 stages, nature, culture and spirituality come together, ranging from peaceful river meadows and colourful mixed forests to castles and palaces and historic towns. Unique pilgrim hostels and regional cuisine provide delightful experiences, while digital tour planning via Outdooractive and komoot as well as the signposting on site ensure successful planning.

The hiking trails lead through idyllic nature to significant sites of the Reformation, where Martin Luther and his companions such as Philipp Melanchthon and Katharina von Bora were active. Churches, monasteries and historic places such as Torgau, Zwickau or Grimma convey the formative events and bring the Reformation heritage to life. The trail in Saxony is part of a Germany-wide network of Luther trails, which together offer a unique journey of discovery through history, culture and faith.

The The Luther Trail in Saxony opens up a wide range of opportunities to actively explore the history of the Reformation, for example through themed guided tours in churches, monasteries, and historic sites, or through seasonal pilgrimage activities. Along the 29 stages, numerous stamp stations ensure that the completed stages can be documented in the pilgrim passport. Certified pilgrimage guides share regional expertise and provide spiritual inspiration while hiking. In addition, travel offers for group and individual trips provide enriching experiences “Following the Footsteps of the Reformation”.
