The Luther Trail in Saxony stretches over 550 kilometres and leads through charming landscapes and historic sites between Leipzig, Chemnitz and Zwickau. Across 29 stages, nature, culture and spirituality come together, ranging from quiet river meadows and colourful mixed forests to castles and palaces and historic towns. Unique pilgrim hostels and regional cuisine provide enjoyable experiences, while digital tour planning via Outdooractive and komoot as well as the signposting on site ensure successful planning.

The hiking trails lead through idyllic nature to significant sites of the Reformation, where Martin Luther and his companions such as Philipp Melanchthon and Katharina von Bora were active. Churches, monasteries and historical places such as Torgau, Zwickau or Grimma convey the defining events and bring the Reformation heritage to life. The trail in Saxony is part of a nationwide network of Luther trails, which together offer a unique journey of discovery through history, culture and faith.

The Luther Trail in Saxony opens up a wide range of opportunities to actively explore the history of the Reformation, for example through thematic guided tours in churches, monasteries and historic sites, or through seasonal pilgrimage activities. Along the 29 stages, numerous stamp stations ensure that the completed sections can be recorded in the pilgrim passport. Certified pilgrimage guides share regional expertise and offer spiritual inspiration while walking. In addition, travel offers for group and individual trips provide enriching experiences “In the Footsteps of the Reformation”.
