Dahlen is the southern gateway to the Dahlen Heath, a wonderful landscape that is ideal for hiking, pausing and finding peace and quiet. The landscape conservation area in the North Saxony region is overgrown with mixed pine forests, through which romantic forest paths lead. In addition to the landscape, you can also marvel at a historic windmill near Schmannewitz and the twin-towered church in the town of Dahlen, which dates back to 1136.

This short route, which is actually an access route to the Luther Trail Saxony, leads through short sections of forest, along small, fast streams and idyllic meadow ponds. Luther often had to pass through this area on his travels between Torgau and Grimma. After the Reformation was introduced in Albertine Saxony in 1539, the town of Dahlen also embraced the new faith. The first Protestant pastor was Jakob Osterland. In Dahlen, you should visit the town church, inside which you will find a 35m² fresco of St. Christopher.

The trail begins in Dahlener Kirchstraße and leads along Schwanengässchen and August-Bebel-Straße, which is also used by the Ecumenical Pilgrims' Trail to the market, before turning right and leaving the village via Schlossstraße with Dahlen Castle. At the Gräfenhainer Mühle mill, the route continues north along the "Dahle" stream past the mill and grass pond. You reach Schmannewitz via the path "An der Dahle" and Buchaer Straße. Here you follow the Alte Lindenstraße, turn right onto a small path that leads along the "Dahle" and then turn left again onto Schulstraße. After the church, the Luther Trail turns right onto Torgauer Straße, passes the old Bock windmill and finally ends between the old pond and the bridge pond.

By car: Follow the A14 to S38 in Grimma, take exit 32-Mutzschen on the A14. Follow S38, Grimmaer Str., Dahlener Str., S24, Wermsdorfer Str. and S24 to Dr.-Alfred-Brehm-Straße in Dahlen.
