In this section of the Lutherweg, friends of medieval architecture will have their fill. Besides the medieval old town of Grimma with its historic monastery church, you can also visit the Cistercian nunnery Marienthron just outside the gates of the town of Grimma.

The path mostly follows the Mulde riverbank and offers hikers a wonderful view of the towers of the medieval towns Trebsen and Grimma. Here the Lutherweg follows a section of the Mulde cycle route and is therefore very easy to walk. Worth seeing is the historic town center of Grimma, especially the historic monastery church in which Luther once preached. Today, the building is no longer used as a church but as an event hall. South of the town, you can visit the former complex of the Cistercian nunnery Marienthron at Nimbschen. Here you can take a cable ferry near the monastery to cross the Mulde river. Katharina von Bora lived in the Nimbschen monastery for 14 years until she fled in 1523 with other nuns. She then traveled via Torgau to Wittenberg, where she married Luther in 1525. Luther preached several times in Grimma, in the monastery and Nicolaikirche.
