The hike runs through the Mulde floodplain, along long stretches of the Mulde River, over meadow paths, and through small idyllic villages. The hiker is rewarded upon arrival by the beautiful Protestant parish church in Löbnitz, where you can find the largest and most extensive biblical ceiling painting in Germany.

The path to Löbnitz runs on meadow paths very close to the river. Small forest sections are crossed, and until Reibitz, the path goes along the forest edge. Then you reach the Seelhausener Lake via field and forest paths. At this point, hikers are offered a wonderful view. Passing a stud farm, you approach the town center and the church, which is famous for its ceiling made of coffered panels with biblical images and floral motifs. In Luther’s time, the route from Wittenberg to Leipzig went via Kemberg and Löbnitz. The manor owner Ernst von Schönfeldt was friendly with Luther.

Directions

The path begins at the Bergkirche St. Marien on Bergstraße and then runs via Schlossweg and Leipziger Straße over the Mulde. Then it goes parallel to Wallstraße through a residential area. Turning left into Rinckartstraße, you walk over Försterweg to Kornmarkt. Then continue over Hirschgasse to Nordring. Follow this westward, cross the Mulde, and turn right into Mühlgasse. From here, the Lutherweg runs northward parallel to the Mühlgraben along the Muldental hiking trail. Beyond the town of Eilenburg, you cross a forest section and reach Hainichen and Zschepplin. The route continues north along the Vereinigte Mulde. In Hohenprießnitz, the Lutherweg leaves the Muldental hiking trail and turns west. Through the Noitzscher Heide, the path passes the "Red House," where you cross the B2. Over Brösen, it goes past the Schadebach reservoir to Badrina. Beyond the village, the path turns north again along the "Leine 2" stream to the "Großen Teich" near Reibitz. From Reibitz, it goes northward parallel to Löbnitzer Straße through the Reibitz forest to the Seelhausener Lake. At the lake, you walk along the west shore of the Seelhausener Lake on the Reibitzer Way and reach Löbnitz. The route ends at the church on Dübener Straße.
