Kieritzsch Church
Originally a Romanesque church with a choir tower. It was redesigned between 1697 and 1702. The freestanding pulpit altar and the patron’s box date from this period. A late-Gothic tabernacle niche has been preserved in the sacristy. The Schlag & Söhne organ from 1907–08 is located on the west gallery.
Gottlieb Schlag (1803–1889) apprenticed under Gottlieb Schönburg in Schafstädt. From 1834 to 1869, he was the owner of the firm Christian Gottlieb & Johann Karl Schlag in Schweidnitz. The firm Schlag & Söhne operated under this name from 1869 to 1923. Built in the tradition of mechanical organ building, the organ constructed in 1907–08 for the church in Kieritzsch features cone chests and pneumatic action. II/12. The disposition, which consists primarily of fundamental stops, fully corresponds to the tonal ideal of that era. A general overhaul was carried out in 2010–2011 by the firm Bochmann in Kohren-Sahlis.
