The multimedia experience exhibition for adults and children to hear, see, marvel and play is all about kaolin, the most important raw material for porcelain production. VR goggles make kaolin mining comprehensible and a micro-telescope allows visitors to get to the bottom of the chemical element kaolinite.
The guided tours through the "Kaolin Experience" reveal everything about the geological formation of white clay, kaolin extraction in underground and open-cast mining, the history of Europe's largest narrow-gauge railroad network around Mügeln station and other industrial uses of the raw material.
Guided hikes on the "Path to Kaolin" and a bicycle rental service complete the offer. The Döllnitzbahn starts its themed excursions with diesel and steam locomotives at Mügeln narrow-gauge railway station.
